An event type is the name you give a kind of event, like Wedding, Graduation or Celebration of Life. You keep the list on the Event types page in Settings, and you can add, rename and delete types there. A type never changes a price.
Before you start
By default only the account owner can change this list. Admins can open the page and read it, but the name boxes lock and the Add and delete controls disappear.
Steps
- Open Settings, then Event types. It sits under Clients & events.
- Read the starter list. A new account starts with Wedding, Corporate event, Private party, Birthday party, Brunch or baby shower, Holiday party, Fundraiser, Brand activation and Other.
- Type each kind of event you book in Add a type, then click Add or press Enter. A message confirms the new type.
- To rename a type, click its Name box, change the text and click outside the box. The change saves at once.
- To remove a type you never use, click the trash icon beside it and confirm Delete. A message confirms the removal.
Where the list shows up
- The Event type question on your lead form offers every type on the list.
- Your reports group events by type, such as the Event type mix table in the Booking pace report.
- Automations can act on a type.
Adding, renaming or deleting a type updates the Event type question on your forms right away. A new type shows on every form until you hide it on a form.
Why renaming is safe
An event points at its type, not at the words. Rename Corporate event to Company party and every event, form and automation that used it keeps working under the new name. A rename moves no quote total.
Something look off?
Work through each check in order. Most fixes take under a minute.
A type won't delete
- 1 · Read the message. It names what still uses the type, such as an event count or a form rule.
- 2 · For events, open them and change each one to another type, then delete again.
- 3 · For a form's routing, show or hide rule, or an answer rule, change that rule to a different type. The same goes for an automation that names the type.
A name is refused
- 1 · If the message reads "You already have an event type with that name.", pick a different name. Every type needs its own.
- 2 · If the message reads "That took too long, so nothing was changed. Try again.", wait a moment and try again.
