A designed template is a saved set of pages from the design editor. Save one after you lay out a proposal you want to reuse, then start the next proposal from it.
Designed pages do not reflow on a phone. For something every lead receives, the app suggests a Lookbook, since most leads open it on a small screen. Build a proposal template clients can book from covers the Dynamic kind and the Lookbook choice.
Before you start
- You need a Designed proposal with the pages laid out. Start a new proposal shows how to make one.
- The save buttons show only for a role that can create proposal templates. If they are missing, ask the owner.
Save it
- Open Quotes & Proposals and click a Designed proposal. It opens in the design editor.
- In the left rail, click the Templates tab, the bookmark icon.
- Choose what to save. Save proposal as template keeps every page. Save page as template keeps the page on screen. Save selection as section keeps the elements you selected, to drop into any page later. It stays off until you select something and says "Select one or more elements first."
- In Template name, type a name. Pick an Event type (optional) if the template suits one kind of event.
- Click Save. The message "Template saved" appears.
Find and manage it
- Open Proposal templates, under Documents in Settings, and click the Designed tab.
- Templates are grouped as "Proposal templates", "Page templates" and "Section templates". Each card shows its page count.
- Click Rename to change a name. Use the delete icon to remove a template. Deleting asks "Delete this template?" and says it cannot be undone.
Start a proposal from it
- In Quotes & Proposals, click New Proposal, choose Designed (PDF) and click Continue.
- Pick a project under Link to a project (optional) first. Choosing a template creates the draft straight away, and a linked project fills smart fields such as the client's name and the event date.
- Click your template under Or start from a template. The draft opens with its pages.
Inside the editor, the Templates tab also reuses a saved template. Click a page template to add its pages. Its menu offers Append to proposal and Replace all pages, which asks you to confirm. A section template offers Insert on current page.
What happens to the pricing table
A pricing table linked to an old quote never carries that quote's rows onto a new proposal. With a quote on the new proposal, the table binds to it. With no quote, the table resets to one blank row and a message says "The template's pricing table was cleared because this proposal has no quote. Re-link a quote or fill it in."
A proposal shows no tax. The table's note reads "Plus applicable sales tax, calculated on your invoice."
Something look off?
Work through each check in order. Most fixes take under a minute.
The template is not in the list
- 1 · Check the Designed tab, not Dynamic. Designed templates never show on the Dynamic tab.
- 2 · Check the group. Save proposal as template lands under "Proposal templates", Save page as template under "Page templates" and Save selection as section under "Section templates".
