Connect Stripe to take card payments

Connect Stripe so clients can pay an invoice by card and the money reaches your bank.

2 min read
The short version

Connect Stripe sets up a Stripe account for your business. Card payments from your invoices land in it, and Stripe pays them out to your bank.

01

Before you start

  • Only the account owner sees Stripe payments. Anyone else who opens it sees "Stripe payments isn't available to your role."
  • Stripe asks for your business details and a bank account.
  • If you already use Stripe, know which login you use there. You sign in with it in step 3.
02

Steps

  1. Open Stripe payments. It's under Settings, then Connections.
  2. On the Stripe card, click Connect Stripe. EventSage sends you to Stripe.
  3. Sign in to Stripe with the login you want to own the account. If you already use Stripe, use that same login. Stripe can then reuse your existing business details and bank account, and your current Stripe account keeps its own balance and history.
  4. Follow Stripe's steps. Stripe sends you back to EventSage when you finish.
  5. Check the badge on the Stripe card. Connected means clients can pay your invoices by card.

What the badge means

Connected

Setup incomplete
Means Stripe still needs something. Click Continue setup to pick up where you left off.
Not connected

Once you are connected, a Card processing fees card appears below. Choose how clients can pay you covers it and the other ways to get paid.

What card payments cost

Stripe takes its own processing fee on each card payment. 0.1% of each card payment also goes to keep EventSage operating. Both come out of the payment before it reaches your bank.

Something look off?

Work through each check in order. Most fixes take under a minute.

The badge says Setup incomplete
  1. 1 · Click Continue setup and finish what Stripe asks for.
  2. 2 · If you already sent everything, Stripe may still be reviewing your details. Check back later.
You signed in with the wrong Stripe login
  1. 1 · Sign out of Stripe first. If you skip this, you land straight back on the same login.
  2. 2 · On the Stripe card, click Wrong account? Use a different Stripe account.
  3. 3 · Read the box, then click Use a different account. EventSage forgets the account and sets up a fresh one the next time you connect.
  4. 4 · Click Connect Stripe and sign in with the right login.
  5. 5 · If the link is missing, or the card says the account can't be swapped, get in touch with EventSage. The card names what holds the account, such as card payments already taken, storefront sales, a client's saved card, or your EventSage plan.
