EventSage adds sales tax when it bills, so your tax setup has to be right before the first quote, proposal or invoice goes out. Every tax setting lives on one page, Sales tax, under Getting paid in Settings. A proposal shows no tax and says so. A quote on your own rates lists the tax as its own row, and the invoice carries it.
Answer the sales tax question
Enter your rate, or record that you don't charge sales tax. EventSage holds your first quote, proposal or invoice until you do. If you charge tax on your own rates, it also waits for your staffing, travel and service charge answers, and by default only the account owner can give the last two. Set your sales tax rate walks through the page.
Decide how staffing is taxed
Some states tax staffing when it is sold with taxable goods, some always, some never. You pick the answer, and staff inside a bundle follow the bundle's tax instead. Choose whether staffing is taxed holds the choice.
Add a tax class for another rate
A tax class is one named tax with a rate, such as a city tax or an alcohol tax. Add one, then put it on the items it covers. Add a tax class for another rate shows how.
Charge a different tax on one event
An event in another city can charge its own tax from its Billing tab, and a venue can remember a tax for the events held there. Charge a different sales tax on one event covers the event, and Set a venue's sales tax covers the venue.
Let Stripe Tax work out the rate
If your events span many tax areas, Stripe can set the tax from each venue address, and your own rate stays as the backup. Let Stripe Tax work out your sales tax turns it on. How Stripe Tax decides what to charge explains what it prices and when your backup rate bills instead.

- The next module. Each role can carry its own tax class, and Guide to your staff covers the roles.
- Your account
- Comes after that. By default only an owner or admin can edit tax rates, and Guide to your account shows who holds what.
